THE CHAMPIONSHIP
An innovative project strongly endorsed by the promoter (Formula X Italian Series) and ACI Sport. It will initially field Tesla Model 3 exemplars, but it will be open to further constructors in the future.
The inaugural season will take off with a double championship (Sprint and Endurance) on a total of 9 race weekends.
Italy therefore places itself at the forefront of a challenge with a pioneering flavor, which aims to open a new era in the field of car racing, relying on ACI Sport's constant attention to the alternative energy sector. The championship is ready to start from June 2021 with the first "test race" before the inaugural appointment at the Misano World Circuit together with the GT WORLD CHALLENGE. Double appointment scheduled for the debut on the 'Marco Simoncelli' circuit.
THE FORMAT. The new E-STC series is also at the forefront with regard to the weekend format, with a series of interesting commercial initiatives on and off the track, transforming the events into a real electric mobility festival. The championship will consist of nine events, of which 6 are reserved for the Sprint series and 3 are valid for the Endurance.
As for the Sprint championship, each leg will consist of two days and will allow to compete alone or in a crew made up of two drivers, with the relative possibility of cost sharing. The format of each of the two days of the weekend includes two free practice sessions, qualifying (in the spectacular Superpole version, with only one timed lap available to each driver) and a Sprint race; the two days are therefore independent and, although the main classification will take into account the team’s score, each day of competition will see as protagonist only one of the two drivers, with an individual podium ceremony. An excellent compromise to be able to halve the costs, sharing the car with a teammate without giving up the adrenaline of the individual race.
The Endurance championship, on the other hand, foresees a double heat with a race distance, divided over two days, of 200 km; in both heats there will be a driver change and a regulation aimed at encouraging the formation of mixed man / woman crews: otherwise (two men or two women in the team), the team will be called to serve a penalty in terms of time in occasion of the driver change.
